The Presidencies of Jefferson and Madison

During President Jefferson's presidency the country expanded due to the Louisiana Purchase.  Lewis and Clark explored the new territory all the way to the Pacific Ocean.  The War of 1812 was fought during the Madison Presidency, during which the National Anthem (Star Spangled Banner) was written during the Battle of Fort McHenry.  Some have called it a racist song...
